Hi my name is Raffinae LaJuan, I’m a Dallas,Texas-USA native and a mother of two handsome young men. I would be best described as dedicated, determined, fearless, agile, strong-willed, humble, outgoing and a charismatic young woman.
I live by the rule of why not; meaning the only thing greater than fear is fear itself. Everything begins within you, so why not take a leap of faith to see how high you can sore. Versus, staying safe and looking out into the world in watching other people be successful.
I’m a professional distance running, half marathon, 15k mud obstacle racing Spartan and owner of Moms For Medals. The purpose for Moms for Medals is to encourage, empower, inspire, and motivate others to walk within there purpose if you will.
The “Medal” in Moms for Medals is a metaphor …the medal part of it,is whatever your “Goal” is. What do you aspire to be? What’s your purpose? What goals do you want to achieve in life?
I would described running & Moms for Medals as a dying process meaning you have to die to self and let something greater then you kick in and take over and get you to the next step. Moms For Medals is apart of the the process. Running is a mental & spiritual thing for me… It keeps me grounded, humble and grateful.
My motto when I run is: if God didn’t give up on me, then I can’t give up on this!
What is Raffinae LaJuan a symbol of?
I am a symbol of a mother, a sister, a daughter. A person that has overcome obstacles and struggles. I believe I am or I aspire to be a symbol of greatness, a symbol of faith, a symbol of accomplishment. I want to appeal to not only moms, but boys, girls or people that need encouragement. People that are in a place where they might want to give up or not feel as much love or compassion from other people. I want to be a voice that says, keep going even when you get tired, because there’s light at the end of your tunnel. I want to encourage people to do something and believing in something greater than yourself. The world doesn’t revolve around you! I want to be the person that a young girl or any person for that matter can look to and say, (you know what…I see myself in her and she overcame something.) They’re story might not be my story but, they can keep going/continue to push forward through whatever you’re going through. I want God’s light to shine through me by walking in my purpose.
Moms for Medals is me stepping out on faith… this project is still being developed as we speak. However God’s love is too amazing for me not to see this thing through.
